You know how many sales you’re making for each product, but you could probably use more context to understand how you’re really doing. How do your sales numbers compare to those of brands selling similar products? Do you have room to grow and perform better if you improve your Amazon marketing, or are you doing about as well as possible with the type of product you’re selling?
To answer questions like those, you need a way to see how the performance of your products compares to that of other items in the same category. Finding your Amazon Sales Rank is the easiest way to do so.
For every category on its site, Amazon ranks which products sell the most. Amazon Sales Rank provides a clear measure of the relative success of each product on the platform when compared to other items listed in the same category.
The Amazon marketplace is broad and divided into a wide range of categories and subcategories. You can find the Amazon Sales Rank for a product for every category and subcategory it’s listed in. For example, you can see how well a book is ranked in the broad category of Books, as well as more specific categories like Coming of Age Fiction and Literary Fiction.
For each product listed on the Amazon marketplace, you can find the Amazon Sales Rank on the product page. Simply pull up the product page, then scroll down until you see a section titled either Product Details or Product Information.
It will be below the product description provided by the seller, but above the Questions and Reviews sections, so if you see those you’ve gone too far. Once you've found it, look for Best Sellers Rank. You’ll see a list of the Amazon Sales Rank for the product for each category it’s listed in.
As an example, it looks something like this:
If you want to see the main products you’re competing with, the links in this section will take you to the rankings list for each category.
Pulling up the product page to look for this information on a regular basis for every product you sell at this time or may want to sell later is impractical. If you sell hundreds of products, doing this work manually would take hours. If you’re trying to collect a lot of data in the market research phase, it could take even longer.
You have a better option.
MarketScout includes Amazon Sales Rank for products in a spreadsheet alongside other important data you need, including ASIN, lowest margin percentage, and the cost of fulfilling an order. You can quickly and easily see the Amazon Sales Rank for every product you’re interested in, as well as other details to help you make smarter decisions around what inventory to invest in.
For sellers, knowing Amazon Sales Rank provides a few main benefits:
Knowing how to find Amazon Sales Rank is only one small part of analyzing a product’s performance. Determining how profitable it is for your company ultimately matters more than where it falls in the ranking. Nonetheless, when paired with other seller insights, it can help you gain a greater understanding of where individual products fit into the overall picture of Amazon success.
