Lighting and Locks didn’t start with dreams of digital domination. Based in Joplin, Missouri, they were your typical brick and mortar shop selling ceiling fans and light fixtures. But when Jerry Jones joined the team and casually mentioned he dabbled in website design, the lightbulb moment (literally) sparked their move online.
By 2009, the business was selling on its own website. A few years later, they joined Amazon, and suddenly, their local shop had nationwide reach. Today, their Amazon store generates $750,000 in monthly sales, even during slow seasons.
So, what flipped the switch?
Selling on Amazon is a whole different ballgame. You’re not chatting with customers face to face. You’re competing against countless other sellers, and trust is hard to earn.
Enter: product reviews and seller feedback.
They’re the digital version of word of mouth only louder, faster, and absolutely critical for standing out. The Lighting and Locks team knew this. But in the early days, their methods for gaining reviews were... hopeful at best.
Manual reminders. Amazon’s occasional nudges. Crossing their fingers that customers would leave a review on their own.
Spoiler alert: They didn’t.
Jerry had his breakthrough while shopping himself on Amazon one day. He bought something. He got a polite email asking for feedback. And he thought, “Huh, that’s clever. I want to do that.”
Turns out, the seller was using FeedbackFive by eComEngine. So, Jerry did what smart people do: he asked questions.
The seller gave a glowing review of FeedbackFive. So, we signed up, set up an automated email campaign, and boom reviews skyrocketed.
How much did their reviews increase by?
Let that sink in.
If you’re searching for ways to grow your brand on Amazon, you’ve likely typed something like Amazon review automation into the Google machine. Lighting and Locks is a textbook example of why automation matters.
Amazon updated its messaging policies to allow only one request per order. But Jerry didn’t panic. FeedbackFive helped his team streamline requests, stay compliant, and continue outperforming competitors in the review department.
Even with the one-request rule, we still get way more reviews than other sellers,” Jerry said. “It gives us a serious advantage.
⭐ More reviews = higher seller ratings = more Buy Box wins
⭐ More Buy Box wins = more sales = happy business owners
Let’s talk results.
Not only did Lighting and Locks see a massive spike in reviews, but those reviews directly impacted sales. Potential customers compared them to other sellers and chose them because the reviews didn’t lie.
People told us the only reason they bought from us was because of how many positive reviews we had.
It’s simple psychology. Shoppers trust other shoppers. Especially on a platform where seller credibility can be hard to spot.
Beyond review requests, Jerry also uses FeedbackFive alerts to stay on top of negative feedback.
I love getting alerted instantly if we get a negative review. That way we can respond and make things right.
This kind of proactive customer service is rare and powerful! Customers are often surprised (in a good way) when a seller reaches out to resolve a problem. It builds trust and keeps ratings high.
Jerry isn’t just a FeedbackFive user, he’s a fan.
You guys actually care. You help us save money, optimize our account, and you’ve got a full suite of [Amazon Seller] tools that really work.
That kind of support creates loyal customers. Jerry now recommends FeedbackFive to other sellers, just like it was recommended to him.
Lighting and Locks took a traditional business online, leaned into the power of reviews, and saw a 900% increase all thanks to Amazon review automation with FeedbackFive.
More reviews. More trust. More sales. Simple as that.
