Amazon FBA New Selection program benefits include the ability to qualify for free monthly storage, free removals, and free returns processing on eligible parent ASINs that are new to FBA.
In this article, we’ll share how the program works and what you need to know to participate. This information has been updated to reflect changes introduced in April 2021.
The FBA New Selection program is only available for parent ASINs that are new to FBA. Once enrolled, fee waiver benefits can be used for an unlimited number of new to FBA parent ASINs that you create.
Free monthly storage and free removals are available for standard size ASINs. There will be no monthly storage fees for the first 50 units of each new parent ASIN for 90 days after the first unit is received at a fulfillment center. No removal fees will be applied if you remove any of the first 50 units within 180 days of the first inventory received date.
Free monthly storage and free removals are also offered for oversize ASINs, but in this case it applies to the first 30 units of each new parent ASIN. You also have 180 days to remove any of those first 30 units after the inventory received date with no removal fees.
Free return processing is offered for eligible ASINs in apparel or shoes categories. Additional benefits were added for apparel and shoes, including no monthly storage fees for the first 100 units of each new standard size parent ASIN for 120 days after the first unit is received. You’re able to remove any of the first 100 units within 180 days after the first received date without incurring removal fees, and Amazon will waive return processing fees for up to 20 units of each standard size parent ASIN. Returned items must be received within 180 days of the first inventory received date.
For new FBA sellers enrolled in the program, Amazon will provide $200 in sponsored ads promotional clicks and free campaign creation. You’ll receive the first $100 when you enroll and launch a campaign with no end date for an FBA ASIN (which don't have to be new to FBA). You’ll then receive the other $100 when you advertise an FBA ASIN for at least 30 days. Any unused promotional clicks will expire 30 days after they’ve been applied. Sellers located in France, Italy, Spain, and Turkey aren’t eligible for this benefit.
New FBA sellers can also receive a $100 inbound transportation charge discount for the Amazon Partnered Carrier program. If you qualify for this discount, note that any additional credit can be applied to later shipments if your first shipment is not over $100. ASINs do not have to be new to FBA to qualify for this discount.
You must be a Professional seller to enroll in the program and have an Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score of 400 or higher. If you're a new Professional seller or don't have an IPI score assigned yet, you can still enroll and receive the benefits but you must maintain your eligibility, which is updated daily based on your score. Sellers remain eligible until the next assessment on April 1, even if your IPI score changes before then. If your IPI score is below 400 as of that April 1 date, you'll be removed from the program.
If you've enrolled but aren't eligible due to a low IPI score, you'll become eligible if it's raised to 400 or higher on the next daily assessment date.
Eligible ASINs do not include new child ASINs that are created under a parent ASIN that is already on FBA. You also may not enroll new ASINs that are created by bundling the same or different existing FBA ASINs.
How do I get started?
In order to participate in the program, you must opt in. Amazon will then determine whether or not you qualify.
Is there a limit to the number of units that can be sent to fulfillment centers?
No, you may send in as many units as you like. Note that only the first 50 units of each eligible standard size ASIN or the first 30 units of each eligible oversize ASIN received at fulfillment centers will qualify for fee waivers.
Is there a parent ASIN limit?
No, the marketplace has removed the previous 500 ASIN limit as of April 2021 and now allows an unlimited number of eligible new to FBA parent ASINs.
This program is especially beneficial if you are a brand or private label seller. The waived FBA storage and removal fees provide a low risk way to experiment with stocking a new product at Amazon fulfillment centers. Saving money on fees allows you to focus on promotion and building your product's reputation.
