Mid-July is when Prime Day has historically been held, but 2020 was certainly different. Amazon pushed Prime Day to October, kicking off the holiday shopping season early. That certainly leaves Prime Day 2021 a bit unpredictable, but Amazon sellers can capitalize on so many shopping events in addition to Prime Day and major Q4 holidays. Be sure to plan ahead for launching your promotions for each season, Single's Day and other holidays you may not have thought about.
It's crucial that you plan ahead for inventory deadlines. FBA storage limits update quarterly based on your Inventory Performance Index. An IPI score of 500 means you are on track for unlimited storage. While the dates for Prime Day may not be as predictable in 2021, we know that sellers are only given a few weeks notice. Amazon typically announces the event about 2-3 weeks prior, so its best to anticipate that this major eCommerce shopping day will be in early July, and be prepared to send in your inventory in June.
