Liz's eCommerce Adventures - TWF Live 2018
I recently had the opportunity to go to TWF Live 2018, a fantastic event in Atlanta organized and hosted by The Wholesale Formula. It's a three-day educational program for their students, who are all levels of sellers on the Amazon marketplace. It was an awesome event for everyone, especially for the eComEngine team because we got to talk to so many of you and learn about your Amazon journeys. I'm going to tell you a little bit about The Wholesale Formula, the people behind it, and the event itself.
What is The Wholesale Formula?
Dan Meadors and Eric Lambert, childhood friends, started selling on the Amazon marketplace in 2011. They had just $600 as starting capital that they spent on discounted products at local stores. In a word, retail arbitrage. They turned their focus to finding wholesale suppliers to scale their business, and soon quit their full time jobs to focus on selling full time. Today they are ranked among the top 200 Amazon FBA Sellers, have generated over $20,000,000 (that's a lot of zeroes!) in sales on the Amazon marketplace and have sold over 500,000 products. Somewhere along the way, they realized they'd developed a pretty special system that allowed them to find replenishable items that would keep their business growing and thriving.
A word about Dan and Eric. They are NICE guys. When they realized they had developed a repeatable system for succeeding as FBA sellers, they developed The Wholesale Formula, so they could teach others to be successful too. Their team grew (shout out to Dylan, Justin and Joel!) and in addition to their course, The Wholesale Formula, they began hosting TWF Live to enhance their students' resources and knowledge. They also provide awesome networking opportunities at their annual event, TWF Live.
TWF Live 2018
Because Dan, Eric many others in The Wholesale Formula group use RestockPro to help automate their supply chain, we were invited to sponsor the TWF Live event so we could educate attendees about the benefits of using RestockPro.
Dan says, “RestockPro helped us gauge our reorders. The problem was that we would see spike and drop, and we’d run out of products. Now, we’re keeping our products in stock better.”
RestockPro makes life easier for FBA sellers who deal mainly in replens. It helps save time when making decisions about what to restock and when, and even helps seller grow their profits. Many of The Wholesale Formula's students are users, so we also helped them optimize their accounts. And we shared some of our newest features such as updated purchase order saving, improved order searching and more options for resizing grids. That's why my colleague and friend, Sean Shanahan, attended with me. Sean is the Customer Success Advisor for RestockPro and I like to call him "The Doctor." He had several account optimization appointments over the course of the event, while I (as usual) evangelized RestockPro and our other software tools for Amazon Sellers.
Sean said, "I had the opportunity to do short account reviews with several of the sellers who attended the event. I also enjoyed talking more generally to sellers about the specifics of RestockPro."
There were more than 300 sellers at the event! Every attendee I spoke with talked about how great the content was, how engaged they were and how glad they were to be there. That's saying something!
In addition to the amazing content the TWF team provided, there were a few speakers who really added value to the event. Successful sellers and TWF alumni Ian Bower, Cheryl Breitman and Aymeric Monello told their inspirational stories of success as students of The Wholesale Formula. Mastin Kipp, author and public speaker, riled the crowd up, and Trent Dyrsmid, serial entrepreneur and self-made multi-millionaire, told his remarkable story of building up million dollar businesses. It was clear that everyone at the event got a lot of value from it.
This was my second year attending TWF Live and I really believe in what The Wholesale Formula teaches, because I've talked to so many people who have taken the course and become successful sellers. This event was exciting because the attendees were so engaged. They were there to learn, and they were excited about the content and the opportunity. The energy was amazing, and I can't wait for next year.
