FBA Grade and Resell is an invitation-only program designed to give unsold and returned inventory new life. Instead of having to pay to return or dispose of this inventory, you’ll be allowed to relist and sell unfulfillable items.
When you submit an item to the FBA Grade and Resell program, Amazon grades it and creates the listing for you. It’s up to you to set the price and manage the listing, just as you do for your current new and used items. Read on to find out how it works.
At this time, sellers must be invited to the FBA Grade and Resell program to participate. Amazon plans to expand the program in the near future. Keep in mind that being invited does not guarantee that all of your items will be deemed eligible for resale.
The program is open to both US and non-US sellers who have been invited and are selling in the US. It is specifically designed for returned FBA inventory in fulfillment centers. Some ASINs may not be included in the program and those that are will have to go through a vetting process to ensure they are suitable for resale.
All invited sellers should carefully review Amazon's FBA Grade and Resell page for detailed instructions. Terms and conditions may change, so it’s a good idea to review this page regularly for updates.
There are two ways to get started with the FBA Grade and Resell program: automated and manual. The automatic way may be the easiest, but choose the option that best suits your needs.
Automated Process:
Manual Process:
Editor's note: Effective March 21, 2022, Amazon will no longer accept manual removal orders for Grade and Resell.
Regardless of whether you get started with the manual or automatic way, you're probably wondering how Amazon grades items for this program. Let's find out!
According to Amazon, “grading is the process Amazon uses to evaluate and determine the condition of an item for relisting. Amazon Warehouse uses the same process to evaluate customer returns.”
Based on Amazon’s condition guidelines, graded items will be assigned one of the following conditions:
Note that not all products will make it through this process. Items considered unacceptable for listing on Amazon include those that are damaged in a way that makes them difficult to use, items missing essential parts or materials, and anything in need of repair. For more details, review the unacceptable and prohibited items section of Amazon’s condition guidelines.
The return policy for items in this program is the same as for any of your new listings. If customers return FBA Grade and Resell items, they will be marked as Unsellable and will remain in your unfulfillable inventory. If FBA Grade and Resell is enabled in the Automated unfulfillable settings, any eligible items will be automatically resubmitted to the program. You can also resubmit items manually, liquidate them, or dispose of them.
Products with low star and seller feedback ratings are not eligible for the FBA Grade and Resell program. You can receive ratings on these items as well as seller feedback for these orders.
To protect your account health and brand reputation, consider submitting only high-volume ASINs to the FBA Grade and Resell program to maintain minimal impact on your product and seller feedback ratings. As always, it’s a good idea to keep track of ratings and reviews by using an automated tool such as FeedbackFive.
