We recently returned from Las Vegas for the 2017 PROSPER Show and boy, was it a great event! It took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center right on the heels of the ASD Market Week and SourceDirect Trade Show. The day before PROSPER started, our team got to walk the halls to see the tremendous amount of retail, import and wholesale products that were lined up in staggering displays in the convention center's 2 million square feet of exhibit space.
Did we buy anything? Well, of course. A little retail therapy never hurt before a giant eCommerce conference, right? But before I tell you about all the cool stuff that happened at the PROSPER Show, let me tell you a little bit about the event itself.
The PROSPER Show
The PROSPER Show is not only a conference, it's an organization. Formed by Joseph Hansen of Buy Box Experts and James Thomson, formerly head of Amazonservices.com, the organization aims to educate sellers in the eCommerce space. And starting with the first conference in Salt Lake City in 2016, once per year there is an event-packed conference that combines trade show, networking and seminar styles to help sellers learn how to improve their eCommerce businesses. The 2016 show had 725 attendees, and this year's show had around 1,200, with the number expected to grow for the 2018 show.
The Big Show
Because The PROSPER Show aims to educate sellers and hit upon their pain points, the planning team set up sessions that are relevant to eCommerce sellers right now. eComEngine partner Carina McLeod spoke about business building. There were also sessions about FBA-generated tax nexus, channel control, brand growth and SEO, along with many, many others.
Ken Furlong, eComEngine's Director of Product, said, "The sheer amount of information being shared at a two-day event was impressive. It was smart to break the seminar/workshops into tracks so that sellers could attend the session most relevant to them. Very wisely planned."
The eComEngine team, comprised of Colleen, Laura, Robin, Ken and myself, were thrilled to talk to existing customers, eCommerce sellers who stopped by for more information, industry partners and more.
Colleen Quattlebaum, Director of Marketing and Business Development, said, "The PROSPER Show is unlike any other eCommerce show in existence. It manages to be informative and valuable while maintaining an air of fun and excitement."
In our many discussions with sellers, we learned that merchants are always looking for ways to enhance their feedback emails (something we're very familiar with thanks to FeedbackFive), that plenty of people are interested in RestockPro and MarketScout and that there are super new resources available to sellers. Soon we'll be introducing you to our friends at W.E.L.L. Insurance, along with several other companies we met at the show.
Postscript: The Pre-Show Party
We don't want to close out this post without a shout-out to our friends at First Choice Shipping, who co-hosted a networking event with us on the Tuesday evening before the show. It was great getting to meet some sellers prior to the show, and we enjoyed meeting many of our long-time customers face to face for the first time!
We had a great time, and look forward to next year!
