Definitions of MarketScout Terms

Explanations of each field in the Batch Details download report.

Search Text: The value uploaded by the user with the MarketScout batch. Usually the UPC (Universal Product Code).

ASIN: The Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is a 10-character alphanumeric unique identifier assigned by Amazon.com and its partners for product identification within the Amazon.com organization.

Title: The name of the ASIN as it appears on the Amazon marketplace.

Model: The model number of the item, usually assigned by the manufacturer.

Manufacturer: The manufacturer of the item.

Item Cost: The cost uploaded by the user with the MarketScout batch. This value is used in calculating the margin values.

Rank: An indication of how well the product is selling within a category on the Amazon marketplace. This number changes depending on the frequency of purchases of this item and other items in the same category. Rank is updated approximately hourly on Amazon.com.

Rank Category: The Amazon category for which the rank is reported.

Total FBA Sellers: The number of offers returned in the Amazon report that are listed as FBA offers for a particular ASIN.

Total Sellers: The total number of offers returned (both FBA and non-FBA) in the Amazon report for a particular ASIN.

All Offers Considered?: A true/false field returned by Amazon, indicating whether or not all of the active offer listings for the specified product were considered when Amazon created the pricing report. When there are a large number of active offer listings for the specified product, Amazon considers only a certain number of offer listings. The listings that Amazon considers always have lower combined prices than the combined prices of listings that are not considered.

Fulfillment Cost: This field is the total FBA cost. It includes the following FBA Fees: Order Handling, Pick & Pack, Weight Handling, and 30-Day Storage. This field does NOT include the Amazon referral fee (commission).

Amazon?: Indicates whether or not Amazon is a seller of the item.

Amazon Price: The list price Amazon is charging as a seller.

Item Condition: New or Used. During the upload process, the user chooses to see results for either new or used items.

Lowest Price: The lowest price offer for the item. It includes both FBA and non-FBA offers and is a sum of the item price and shipping fee.

Lowest Commission: The Amazon referral fee for the item, calculated using the Lowest Combined Price and the Amazon Referral Fee Percentage for the item category. Lowest Commission = Amazon Referral Fee * Lowest Combined Price.

Lowest Margin: The net profit based on the Lowest Combined Price and the Item Cost uploaded by the user. Lowest Margin = Lowest Combined Price - Commission - Fulfillment Cost - Item Cost.

Lowest Margin Percent: The net profit as a percentage of the price. Lowest Margin % = Lowest Margin/Lowest Combined Price.

Lowest Margin Impact: The net profit based on the Lowest Combined Price, but before considering the user’s item cost. Lowest Margin Impact = Lowest Combined Price - Commission - Fulfillment Cost. This value is reported by the Amazon FBA Revenue Calculator on Seller Central.

Lowest FBA Price: The lowest price FBA offer for the item.

Lowest FBA Commission: The Amazon referral fee for the item, calculated using the Lowest Combined FBA Price and the Amazon Referral Fee Percentage for the item category. Lowest FBA Commission = Amazon Referral Fee * Lowest Combined FBA Price.

Lowest FBA Margin: The net profit based on the Lowest Combined FBA Price and the Item Cost uploaded by the user. Lowest FBA Margin = Lowest Combined FBA Price - Commission - Fulfillment Cost - Item Cost.

Lowest FBA Margin Percent: The net profit as a percentage of the FBA price. Lowest FBA Margin % = Lowest FBA Margin/Lowest Combined FBA Price.

Lowest FBA Margin Impact: The net profit based on the Lowest Combined FBA Price, but before considering the user’s item cost. Lowest FBA Margin Impact = Lowest Combined FBA Price - Commission - Fulfillment Cost. This value is reported by the Amazon FBA Revenue Calculator on Seller Central.

Lowest Cost Margin Percent: An additional profit field that shows profit using Item Cost as a percentage of Margin Impact. Lowest Cost Margin % = 1- (Item Cost/Lowest Margin Impact)

Oversize Status: An indication that the product is considered Oversize by Amazon.

Unit Weight: The item weight as returned by Amazon.

Product Link: The URL to use for viewing the item on Amazon.
